We were going to go on the Red Bus today but changed our minds because the sun was not shining so headed towards the Cosmos museum at Bdnx where there were statues of Yuri Gagarin and other astronauts in Russia’s space history. Although 90% was only in Russian, it was still quite interesting.
I guess the highlight of the day was the car being clamped and removed near the museum. There was obviously a blitz about cars parking on the footpath and there was a TV crew there to record the event. One of the locals even complimented the parking people for getting the cars off the footpath outside his front door. Very funny exercise. We had lunch at Yolki Polki because it was economical and so pleasant last time but not again – unpleasant waitress this time who kept us waiting and it must have taken about 25 minutes to be able to just get the bill sorted. Guess you can’t win them all but gives us the opportunity to try somewhere else tomorrow. We invited Vladimir over for a drink this evening. Vladimir was an ex ballet dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet for about 19-20 years and now probably in his mid 40s. A most delightful character with whom we spent about 1-2 hours. Will see what comes up tomorrow, may even get on the Red Bus or go into Red Square, you just never know. We are both still OK and Moscow is really quite pleasant for a large city
